Yesterday was 9/11, yes it was the 10 anniversary of a tragic event in New York, but for others it may have been a birthday, a day of celebrating a new job and new baby, or perhaps a wedding, for me it was the celebration of mine and Marshall's one year anniversary. One year ago yesterday I walked down the isle and we said our I do's.
Perhaps if we were at home we would have celebrated it by returning to our mini honeymoon spot in Northern Saskatchewan, however here at our new home, and country, we celebrated by learning how to scuba dive and a dinner out (I feel as though I should mention that us learning to dive was also with some of our students, and was in the pool... not a romantic thing, but something fun and new).
I have learned over some time that the way in which we tend to celebrate things is over rated, yes it is good and fun to have an extra excuse to, however like Valentines day, why can we not spend time with the other person or other people other times of the year. Why do we have to say I love you, and give someone a card and chocolates or flowers only on the 14th of February.
Needless to say, thank you to all of you who made our wedding day possible, and for the warm wishes for this coming year.
I have heard that your first year of marriage can be the toughest, or to some the easiest, well hopefully it is smooth sailing from here, however some how I don't think it always will be!
