Wonderfully Warm

As I start to feel sweaty in my tiny kitchen I am thinking about how wonderful it smells and how in a few month time, or even next week I am going to be happy I spent a few house in a hot kitchen with steam from the canner billowing everywhere.

I am making apple sauce. I have the lovely company of my momma, which I am grateful for as my evenings now are a little more lonely with Marsh at work most of them. I got a nice bin full of apples from her backyard the other day needed to do something great with them! Hence apple sauce. As we peel, cut and core the apples I throw them into my large pot and start to simmer them, lets not forget to add the best part, the essence of the wonderful smell in the house, the cherry-on-top, the vanilla bean! My house smells of vanilla, apples, and cinnamon! What a delightful fall smell! Mixed that with the warmth of the stove from the oven and the cool breeze I feel every now and then coming in from the window it is perfect! What a great way to spend an evening.

Marshall would disagree with this, who can find baking, canning, or sewing to be relaxing -downtime? Needless to say, he married someone who does!

What another great fall September day! Another batch of wonderful canning done, a trip to the thrift store, worked on a quilt I am making, a new zucchini chip recipe, and hung out with my boys! Love it! Now to get a piece of mommas homemade apple pie, some tea and a good book (The Bible) and to the veranda I will go!
