from the top of the world

Jan 23, 2012

When you seriously feel like you are on top of the world, living in the clouds, above the clouds for that matter,  and you have a tear in your eye at what you are witnessing, you know you have reached the top of the Volcano Atentenago.

It is times like these when I think how amazing our God is, and how amazing His creation is and how vast his imagination was and still is. Tears in my eyes knowing that I was standing where only few venture to go to, some 4000 meters above sea level where the clouds are below me, or enveloping me as they quickly fly by. I am watching a volcano spit lava, ashes and smoke right in front of my eyes, I am witnessing creation at its finest.

After a 7 hour hike up the 4000 meters we arrive at our destination, setting up camp for the night. Putting on layer after layer of clothing in the windy cold temperatures, just to feel your fingers again, something I should be used to from living in Saskatchewan.
I marvel at the majesty of the place, that I have powered through the hike. A hike through farm land, rain-forest, alpine forest, and then open prairie like filled with volcanic rock, the last of the climb. And in the morning you get another rewarding watch, at you watch the sunrise over the Guatemalan mountains, almost as good as the evening sunset and cloud show. I truly love this land, the world, the mysterious of it, the things to explore and discover. The beauty that we were given, and should and need to take care of.
Thank you God for giving us such amazing things to look at, thank you for creating the things you created!

Wow, you are good!
