First 10 days in Guat!

We have been in Guatemala for about 10 days now. It has been interesting. We have come here, when another team from America, a team of 22, is here. They were here for 3 months and just finished up their time here the other day. It was interesting and slightly frustrating with the other team being here as we did most of our ministry with them and they had already formed relationships with people everywhere we went, as well as we usually then outnumbered the locals. It has been great though because we have seen how our team has been a blessing to their team. When we came the other team seemed to be quite run down. Most were sick, and didn’t seem to care to be here any longer, they lost their joy. However we came in with new perspectives, joy, and a new face to talk to. Their spirits seemed to pick up slightly.
We are really encouraged by this trip. It is going to be amazing, and probably quite hard. We are off to Honduras tomorrow where we are one of the first groups of missionaries to go into a group of churches and the first missionary group to go into the main assembly of those churches in another city. They are looking at us to bring ideas, and teach them what it is to be a missionary. (or at least that is what we think we are getting into!)
But for me, the most exciting part of our trip is going to be coming back from Honduras, back to Guatemala on the 19th of December, and going into the mountains. We are going to be the first YWAM team to be in a small village about 8kms from a town called Salama. It is going to be really neat to be in this Mayan village over Christmas and new years as well as being there for a month and getting to know the people.
