ants, and snow forts

I feel like today is the first day in quite some time that I can fully and happily say, I had a great day!

It was my second day working at my new job. I am a very lucky person, I get to work at the coffee shop, Museo, in the Mendal Art Gallery. It has floor to ceiling windows that over look the South Saskatchewan River, and we drink only the finest coffee and tea. I get to bake all morning, and drink tea and coffee in the afternoon! Did I mention that it is in a art gallery, so when done a shift I can wander aimlessly around admiring all the great art. But my favorite thing to do is to be able to snag the bench in the conservatory where the mid afternoon the sun is beaming in warming my face as I sip on an iced coffee reading away my break. Today it felt more like summer as I saw ants roaming around their warm home, blissfully unaware that there is a cold spell going on outside the walls of their surroundings and unafraid that they will be stepped on.

With a break in the cold temperatures, I look out my kitchen window to find my husband playing in the snow outside. Although all I want to do is put my feet up and chill out on the couch I can't resist the child like play and laughter that awaits me outside. I bundle myself up in my snow pants, and jacket (reminding myself of the Robert Munch book 50 below Zero) and grabbing a shovel and tromping outside. We are building a fort using our Christmas tree that is still in the backyard, however Marshall's attention quickly turns to burring me in the snow, until I am completely covered.

So of course I have to bury Marshall.......

The joys of being a kid or acting like one. I know I don't do it enough, and with a little help from my husband he brings it out of me, as I run around the back yard in uncontrollable laughter, falling every second step.
